About The Chara Foundation

OVERVIEW

The Chara Foundation is a small, registered, not-for-profit company established in 2010. Its purpose is to raise money and provide services for charities that provide long-term support to our servicemen and women, their families/dependents and the communities they live in. The Chara Foundation strives to achieve this by organising events and activities that raise money from event entry fees, sponsorship and charitable giving. The funds raised are disbursed through established charities like SSAFA, BLESMA, Combat Stress, Veterans Aid and the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund.

PRINCIPLES

There are six principles that guide the execution of our mission:

  1. The Chara Foundation will be run on a not-for-profit basis. This principle is enshrined in the founding documents lodged with Companies House.

  2. All funds raised from charitable giving will go direct to supported charities.

  3. Operating costs will be met from sponsorship and entry fees.

  4. The governance and finances of the Chara Foundation will be transparent to our sponsors, partners and participants.

  5. The Chara Foundation will not provide charitable services. This critical task is best conducted by the charities themselves.

  6. Directors and agents of the Chara Foundation will execute their mission in a manner that enhances the reputation, image and brand of sponsors, partners and the Armed Forces.

CHARITY SELECTION

The Chara Foundation will support charities that provide services to servicemen/women, their families/dependents and the communities they live in along one or more of the following pathways:

  1. Decompression/Quality of Life Pathway: Ensuring that serving servicemen/women and their dependants decompress after operations and enjoy an adequate quality of life between operational deployments.

  2. Recovery Pathway: Ensuring that the wounded receive the support they need to recover from their injuries.

  3. Through-life Pathway: Ensuring that support is available for veterans, their families/dependents and the communities where they live through-life.
